As a historian at heart, Michael has been captivated by the stories and lessons that history holds. Through his extensive world travels and experience of diverse cultures, this fascination has only deepened. He is passionate about transforming his insights into board games for all to play in an accessible way, because he believes that they can be of value to us. It is not enough for him to simply witness and observe, but to go on right ahead and turn those thoughts into something of use, insight and enjoyment for all.

Board games have accompanied Michael’s journey since childhood, but it is only now that he has become truly aware of just how much his youth influenced him. Exposure to mind-expanding experiences like seeing previously unfathomable historical sites as a boy in real life, watching great movies and reading great stories, being lucky enough to have a kind and loving family, and of course in playing amazingly imaginative games… These influences have all contributed to his desire to return the favour and do something in the same model, perhaps to leave a legacy behind of memorable works that might inspire others too in a way that he was fortunate enough to have been inspired by himself.

Ultimately Michael hopes that his venture at AOM Games will create a lasting impact with its board games, and that they will become known for dependably good games with strong mechanics, including historicity and strategy within simplicity. The kind of games that he hopes will still be resting on your shelves and continuing to be played for decades to come and long after he is gone.
